Fiona Jeffery OBE
Corporate Social Responsibility and Global Brand Development

For 26 years, I was responsible for running the world’s largest business to business global travel and tourism event World Travel Market attracting over 5,000 companies and 50,000 people from across the world.
​
In the 1990’s I was struck that in this period of massive tourism expansion, there seemed little regard for either protecting the environment or the communities travel businesses took their customers to. I was concerned that if we continued on this trajectory, the travel industry would destroy its own business model and, more importantly, damage the very destinations and communities they sought to promote.
​
Consequently, I have been an environmental campaigner in the travel and tourism industry for over 25 years, launching the first global environmental initiative for tourism, World Responsible Tourism Day, in 1996 in collaboration with World Travel Market and the United Nations World Tourism Organisation.
​
As a respected international business woman, I believe actions speak louder than words, and in 1998 I founded Just a Drop, www.justadrop.org, a community and environmentally inspired development organization that placed corporate social responsibility (CSR) at the heart of my business.
​
I believe strongly in the ability and strength of responsible businesses to add value and make a positive contribution to societal development and change. I am ideally equipped to support businesses and organizations, be it Start-Ups to Global Organisations, to identify and develop strategies and initiatives involving staff, customers and clients that enhance business values, contributing to both reputation and profitability and making a positive societal contribution and impact.

I have assisted organisations both large and small in enhancing their sustainability credentials, including the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), Developed policies as a Member of the Global Committee for Tourism Ethics at the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), as Chair of Africa Travel & Tourism Association ( ATTA) I established a Sustainability Charter for all members, and act in an advisory capacity as a Board Member to the Institute for Travel & Tourism (ITT), Advisory Board Member to University of Surrey School of Hospitality, Tourism & Events, as well as Special Advisor Responsible Tourism Finn Partners (Global PR Company), and undertaken conference moderator responsibilities on behalf of the World Tourism Forum, Geneva and other organisations.

In 2012 I was awarded an OBE for services to the travel & tourism industry and recognised in the Directory of Social Change Influencer Awards in 2015.
